Sara Catterall on Amelia Bloomer: Journalist, Suffragist, Anti-Fashion Icon

“Sara Catterall’s program will expand our knowledge of Amelia Bloomer beyond innovative dress.  She has recently published “Amelia Bloomer:  Journalist, Suffragist, Anti-Fashion Icon” and will have copies available.  Her writing is lively and informative and her  story speaks to the challenges facing women in the 19th century and today.

Sara has a drama degree from NYU and an MLIS from Syracuse University.  Her work has been published in “Humanities” magazine and “The Sun” and she coauthored “Ottoman Dress and Design in the West: A Visual History of Cultural Exchange”. Sara lives with her family near Ithaca.
